Title: | A mixed methods analysis of political graffiti: Demonstrating integration through joint display using Lennon Wall Hong Kong as an example | Author(s): | Lo, Tit Wing Chan, Gloria Hong Yee |
Issue Date: | 2025 | Publisher: | Sage Publications | Journal: | Journal of Mixed Methods Research | Abstract: | While political graffiti helps reveal authentic public sentiments and broader socio-political phenomena, related mixed methods research is lacking, let alone the integration strategies. This article contributes to the field of mixed methods research by introducing a mixed methods longitudinal ethnographic research design, utilizing Lennon Wall Hong Kong as an illustrative example. It integrates: (1) quantitative and qualitative textual analyses of the Wall messages from all districts; (2) in-depth interviews with the participants; and (3) observation at the Wall sites, using a joint display example. It is hoped that the joint display serves as a meaningful guiding structure for integrating various research methods in political graffiti research and inspires other future mixed methods research to generate nuanced insights into complex phenomena. |
