Title: | Battery efficient design with IEEE P802.21c optimized single radio handovers draft standard | Author(s): | Chan, Anthony Hing-Hung | Author(s): | Park, H. Lee, H. H. Liu, D. Perkins, C. E. |
Issue Date: | 2014 | Publisher: | IEEE | Related Publication(s): | Proceedings of the 2014 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC) Workshops | Start page: | 825 | End page: | 830 | Abstract: | A multi-radio device may perform dual-radio handovers in a make-before-break manner, at the price of higher peak-power and more sophisticated isolation of receiver signal from radio frequency (RF) interference. The IEEE 802.21c Task Group has developed a media-independent single radio handover specification to avoid these requirements resulting in smaller battery size and less design complexity, and therefore lower cost. This media-independent handover mechanism also enables signaling between different networks. |
