A preferred embodiment comprises initiating a pre-handoff registration of a piece of user equipment prior to the actual handoff in order to pre-register the piece of user equipment with the new access network. During the handoff a tunnel may be created from the original access network to the new access network in order to tunnel data packets that would otherwise have been lost prior to the completion of the handoff. |
