Title: | Dyspepsia and non-invasive testing for Helicobacter pylori | Author(s): | Smith, Graeme Drummond | Issue Date: | 2012 | Publisher: | MA Healthcare | Journal: | Gastrointestinal Nursing | Volume: | 10 | Issue: | 4 | Start page: | 17 | End page: | 18 | Abstract: | It has been estimated that 25–40% of adults have chronic or recurrent dyspeptic symptoms, accounting for 2–5% of all GP consultations in primary care (Baron et al. 2008). The economic burden of dyspepsia is considerable, with NHS costs in the region of £500m each year (Delaney et al, 2000). This article considers empirical evidence for the investigation of dyspeptic symptoms, with a particular focus on non-invasive testing for Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). |
